NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks rebounded on Wednesday after a sell-off in the prior session, buoyed by a rally in the energy sector.

Ten of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy up 3.81 percent, leading the gainers. Utilities slipped 0.15 percent, the worst-performing group.

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded flat with five of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

On Tuesday, U.S. equities closed lower with the Dow shedding 292 points, even after data showed a key inflation reading that was tamer than expected.
