BERLIN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- German stocks recorded small gains at the start of trading on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 50.6 points, or 0.32 percent, opening at 15,666.6 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was consumer goods company Henkel, increasing by 1.89 percent, followed by plastic specialist Covestro with 1.46 percent and industrial gas producer Linde with 1.38 percent.

Shares of Continental fell by 12.39 percent. The German automotive supplier was by far the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday after splitting off its driveline technology division Vitesco.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0020 percentage points to minus 0.3090 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1817 U.S. dollars, decreasing by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning.
